Delimitation row: BJP stages black flag protests in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: BJP functionaries staged black flag protests in front of their houses across the district on Saturday, condemning the delimitation meeting convened by the DMK.
As part of the protest, state BJP treasurer S R Sekar displayed black flags outside his house in Ganapathy area. He criticised the state govt for neglecting key issues like the Mullaperiyar and Mekedatu disputes. "Instead of addressing these crucial water disputes with the neighbouring states (Kerala and Karnataka), the govt is focusing on constituency delimitation, which is expected to be announced in future," he said.
Sekar also mentioned that Union home minister Amit Shah, during his recent visit to the district, had assured that not a single constituency would be reduced. He accused chief minister M K Stalin of diverting attention from significant issues, including the Tasmac liquor scam.
Similarly, state BJP Farmers' Wing president G K Nagaraj protested with black flags in front of his house. Several BJP functionaries participated in similar protests across the district.
