Raveendran said nurses' dedication and their compassionate service towards Covid-19 patients for the past one and a half years was incomparable and has been spoken about widely.

Raveendran recalled how Florence Nightingale came from a rich family in Florence but travelled to care for the sick and wounded soldiers in the Crimean War.

Looking around at all the senior nurses holding candles, which was how Florence Nightingale would visit her patients every night, he thanked them for their wonderful service during pandemic.

“Your service has been written by the press and patients. All the good name that the institution has received for Covid-19 care is only because of its nurses, lab technicians and paramedics’ contribution,” the dean said.

The day was also celebrated at

Coimbatore Medical College Hospital

, where dean Dr A Nirmala thanked nurses for their service during pandemic.
