COIMBATORE: The judicial custody of five accused in the
Pollachi rape case
has been extended till March 24.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, the accused, who were lodged at the Salem central prison, were produced before the
district
mahila court.
The CBI has already filed a preliminary chargesheet and copies of it were handed over to the accused. The framing of charges against the five is expected to begin soon.
The five accused were allegedly involved in raping a college student at a
farmhouse
near Anamalai last year. They also video recorded the act and were using the footage to blackmail and threaten the student. It later emerged that the five accused were also allegedly kidnapped or lured several girls and raped them. They also video recorded the sexual assaults to harass and blackmail the girls for money.
