Coimbatore: Singai N Muthu, AIADMK cadre who stood for the assembly election from the Singanallur constituency, has petitioned the deputy commissioner, law and order, S Lakshmi, seeking action against his younger sister, Prabhavathi. The Singanallur police station has issued a CSR to him and said they would investigate the issue.
As per Singai Muthu, Prabhavathi had come to his residence on Tuesday and threatened his wife.
She also demanded Rs5 crore, her share of the family property. "Several years ago, the family property was distributed equally among us. But Prabhavathi wanted money to start a business. Both my brother and I gave her Rs30lakh each," said 69-year-old Singai Muthu. He said Prabhavathy had defamed him before the assembly election. She even filed her nomination as an independent candidate and contested against her brother from the Singanallur constituency. As a result of this, he lost the MLA seat by 7000 votes. "Despite this, I decided to forgive her as she is my younger sister. But she has crossed the line by coming to my house and threatening to kill my family in my absence," he said.
He requested police officials to file a case against Prabhavathy and take stringent action against her. The deputy commissioner of law and order, city police, S Lakshmi, said that the Singanallur police was investigating the case. "Action would be initiated based on the investigation," she said.
Singai addressed the media on Wednesday, stating that he had requested for police protection. "My sister used abusive language, saying she had the support of people against me. She threatened to kill me if I did not give her Rs5cr," he said.
