Corpn to revive play area at Sukrawarpet

Coimbatore: The city corporation is all set to revive a children’s play area, which is in a dilapidated condition, at Sukrawarpet.Corporation commissioner M Prathap, who inspected ward 70 on Thursday, visited the play area at Chinna Sandhu Ellai along with the central zone officials and instructed assistant executive engineer Buvaneswari to prepare an estimate to install play equipment and clean the premises.Sharmila Suresh Narayanan, councillor from Sukrawarpet, said the play area hadn’t been in a usable condition for long because of lack of maintenance. “I took up the issue with the commissioner, who promised to look into the issue and renovate the play area for the children.”Sharmila said she had also taken up the issue of clogged underground drainage with the commissioner. “He instructed the officials to attend to the issue and ensure that the problem didn’t recur frequently.”The officials also checked the quality of food being sold in stores at Sukrawarpet and urged the shopkeepers not to use banned plastic bags.
