Cop arrested for sexually harassing college girl in TN

NAMAKKAL: A special sub-inspector (SSI) of police was arrested on Tuesday for sexually harassing a 19-year-old college girl in his vehicle in Namakkal a few days ago.

According to a police officer, the incident took place on Aug 6 when V Mohan, 55, an SSI attached to the Vazhavanthinadu police station, offered to drop the girl in Dindigul, where she was studying, in his vehicle.

“The college girl was travelling with her father, who was an acquaintance of the police officer. Her father got down at Mullukkurichi. When she was travelling alone with the SSI, he made advances on her. She cried for help, forcing the SSI to stop the vehicle and let her get out of it,” the officer said.

The college girl subsequently took a bus to Dindigul from Namakkal.

On Monday, she lodged a complaint with the Namakkal all-woman police, who registered a case and arrested the SSI on Tuesday. The officer said a probe was on into the incident.
