Coimbatore’s Regional Science Centre to conduct STEM robotics camp for students
COIMBATORE: The Regional Science Centre (RSC) functioning under the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre (TNSTC) in Coimbatore is all set to commence a six-month-long STEM Robotics Camp-2022 for students studying in classes VI to IX.
The classes, to be held on Sundays, would be on various topics ranging from robotics to basic electronics, said Lenin Tamil Kovan I K, district science officer (in-charge) of RSC.
The course fee is Rs 3,500. The course will cover all the basic subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics which are together known as STEM.
Lenin added, "The course will impart lessons in robotics, computer coding, 3D printing, drones, and basic electronics to the students. These course will cost Rs.30,000 in the market but the same is offered at an affordable cost because of the government subsidy to the centre."
By undergoing this course, the students would obtain ideas that will further kindle their knowledge of STEM.
Similar courses are already on the offing at the Periyar Science and Technology Centre in Chennai and Anna Science Centre-Planetarium in Trichy.
An intake of 50 to 60 has been earmarked. Lenin said the students can attend the orientation sessions at the Regional Science Centre on November 20 to get a basic idea before enrolling in the programme.
