COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore district cybercrime wing police arrested a woman for uploading obscene videos of her cousin, who is a final year MBBS student, on a social media platform.
The woman, Kausalya 24, of Periyanayakkanpalayam uploaded the videos after collecting them from the boyfriend of the MBBS student to take revenge on her as the latter had informed her (Kausalya’s) parents about her (Kausalya’s) love affair. The MBBS student’s boyfriend was arrested for sharing the videos.
Kausalya was an employee of an IT company having its branch in Chennai. She was working from home.
A police officer in the cybercrime wing said ever since her love affair was known to her parents, Kausalya wanted to take revenge on her cousin. She learnt about her cousin’s love affair and got in touch with her lover Balakrishnan, 24, through a fake Instagram account. Kausalya posed as the ex-lover the MBBS student and got in touch with Balakrishnan, an IT employee hailing from Thondamuthur.
Kausalya gained the confidence of Balakrishnan over the course of time. She told Balakrishnan that she had the inmate videos of the medical student and assured him of sending it to him. Meanwhile, Balakrishnan shared the videos in his possession to Kausalya based on her request, which she posted online.
The MBBS student came to know about the videos through her friends and lodged a complaint with the police. The police zeroed in on Kausalya using her IP address.
