Coimbatore Corporation slaps Rs 10,000 fine on resident for throwing garbage on road
COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Corporation on Thursday slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on a resident in Saibaba Colony for throwing garbage on the road in front of his house on Thursday.
Corporation commissioner M Prathap conducted an inspection in Chinthamani Nagar with engineering and health officials.
Karthikeyan, a resident of 3rd Cross Street, threw a garbage bundle on the road in front of his house. It consisted of various wastes including degradable, non-degradable and sanitary napkins. Stray dogs spread the waste on the road.
Commissioner found the erring resident with the help of garbage collectors. They told the commissioner that the particular resident had been refusing to hand over the waste to them and throwing it on the road regularly.
The commissioner instructed health officials to slap the resident with a fine of Rs 10,000. The resident paid the amount using a cheque.
