Coimbatore airport receives hoax bomb threat email

COIMBATORE: An unknown person sent a bomb threat email to the Coimbatore International Airport on Tuesday night, prompting the bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to carry out thorough searches, after which it was declared a hoax bomb threat email.

A stranger sent the bomb threat email to various airports, including the Coimbatore International Airport, around 8pm on Tuesday. Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials alerted the security forces. Immediately, a meeting was convened at the airport, and the CISF personnel launched a search with its BDDS team. After an hour of searching, the security forces declared it a hoax bomb threat.

For more than ten months, unknown people have been sending bomb threat emails to Coimbatore International Airport, schools, colleges, hospitals and even media houses in Coimbatore city. However, the police were unable to track the senders of the emails as the strangers were using darknet to evade the police.

The Coimbatore city cybercrime police and the anti-terrorism squad of the police have been working to trace the senders' details, but their efforts have gone in vain.
