City beauty bags laurels at nat’l-level pageant
Coimbatore:
The 36-year-old mother of two entered the pageant along with 50 others from across the country, who were shortlisted from 1,000 applicants. The event was organised by the Handicapped Children and Women’s Aid (HCWA) aiming to give a platform for married women to showcase not just their beauty, but skills and ability to make a difference.
In all the rounds, the inherent message was to spread awareness about the environment.
The shortlisted contestants in the first round - Mass Plantation Drive – were asked to plant trees. The second round measured their social media popularity and the third was crowdfunding for HCWA.
Rinky said she raised about Rs 1,80,000 with the help of friends and family. Some more tasks followed before they entered the grand finale.
The finale was for three days, which had Rinky do a dance on plastic menace, followed by a grooming session by experts and then an interview round. The contestants wore eco-friendly outfits aimed at driving home the message of environmental protection. Rinky emerged in the top 20 and finally crowned Mrs India best personality 2018 in the finale.
“All through the event, my husband Vijay Shah, a robotics expert, stood by side supporting me,” said a beaming Rinky.
