CB-CID holds inquiry with Dhanapal

Coimbatore: C Dhanapal, younger brother of Kodanad heist-cum-murder case accused Kanagaraj, who was killed in a road accident in Salem, appeared before the special investigation team (SIT) of the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) here on Thursday morning.
After the inquiry, which lasted for eight hours, Dhanapal told the media that he had given a list of 50 suspects to the officials. “The inquiry will continue on September 26. Officials have recorded my statements,” he said.
A few days ago, Dhanapal had addressed the media in Salem, stating prominent figures of the AIADMK and police personnel from the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur and Salem districts were connected to the Kodanad case.
Dhanapal also said his brother had brought five suitcases containing documents from the Kodanad estate bungalow after the heist on April 23, 2017, and handed them over to senior AIADMK leaders. tnn

The judge expressed his concern about being kept in the dark and emphasized the importance of transparency. The CB-CID filed an interim status report, but its contents were not revealed to the court, media, or the accused. The case involves the murder and burglary of former chief minister Jayalalithaa's summer retreat in 2017. The investigation was handed over to CB-CID in October 2022.
