Considering the pandemic situation, they said the exams should be called off and students should be awarded marks based on their performance in internal exams.

Members of Students Federation of India (SFI) said while the University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked higher education institutions to hold end semester exams within September, the state has said it would not be possible, considering the pandemic situation.

The UGC should accept this and give up the decision to hold exams,” said M Dhinesh Raja, district secretary of SFI. They said if online exams are to be held, it would be unfair for those who can’t afford smart phones, laptops, or computers.
