COIMBATORE: Four days after about 50 property owners in Elysium's Flushing Meadows, dumped substandard quality products used for construction, in front of Elysium's office on Avinashi Road, the builders issued a clarification.

On Monday, the builder told media that the incident was a ploy by two buyers to generate negative publicity for Elysium. "The Flushing Meadows House Owners Association is not legitimate, because the self-appointed president, G K Nagaraj, has not been handed over possession of his house because of non-payment of dues," said the statement.

"Elysium has initiated legal action against Nagaraj and another protester, G Vijayakumar, who both owe the company money," it said. "They want us to drop all legal cases against them, but without them paying the full amount," it added.

They also said that they had not compromised on the quality of construction materials and were ready to enter into a dialogue with a legitimate association, if formed to discuss future concern.
