Coimbatore: A 12-year-old boy was injured after a temporary shed collapsed at the
Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board’s (TNUHDB) residential unit at Kallamedu in Selvapuram on Saturday.
The incident happened around 3pm, when the boy, who was playing cricket, entered the shed in search of the ball. “The shed, constructed using mud and asbestos roof, fell on the boy.
He is undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital,” police said.
The Tamil Nadu Housing Board had handed over two-storey and single-storey flats to TNUHDB in 1979. Some residents on the ground floor later constructed temporary sheds in between the blocks. The Selvapuram police have launched a probe into the incident. tnn
