Tamil Nadu shocker: Mother, lesbian partner kill 5-month-old baby; body exhumed for postmortem

KRISHNAGIRI: The Kelamangalam police on Friday exhumed the body of a five-month-old baby boy who was murdered by his mother and her lesbian partner at Chinnatti village here on Nov 2.

"The body was exhumed in the presence of revenue department officials after obtaining their permission, and a spot postmortem was carried out by the forensic medicine doctors," a police officer said.

Police had arrested the baby boy's mother S Bharathi, 25, and her lesbian partner Sumithra, 22, both residents of Chinnatti village, in connection with the murder on Thursday.

Preliminary investigation had revealed that Bharathi suffocated her son to death based on the instructions of Sumithra. "Bharathi then made her family members believe that her son died from suffocation, following which the body was buried. We registered a case and arrested the duo after Bharathi's husband Suresh raised suspicion over their son's death. During the inquiry, Bharathi and Sumithra confessed to the crime," the officer said.
