Block level health official held for taking bribe

The sleuths laid a trap to arrest Sridar on Monday afternoon and they caught him as he collected the bribe amount from Varghese near the Deputy Director of Health's office.Sridhar claimed that the major share of the bribe was for a senior official.Sridhar has been charged under sections 7 (accepting any gratification other than the legal remuneration) and 13 (12) (acceptance of any benefit for himself or another person by corrupt or illegal means) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. He is expected to be remanded in judicial custody. Apart from G Stalin, inspectors Sadasivan and Azhkappan and other officials took part in the operation.
