Coimbatore: The Kattoor police registered a case against BJP state general secretary A P Muruganandam for installing party flags on 100 Feet Road to mark the opening of his new office on Saturday.
Muruganandam, who owns a building near Prasanna Lakshmi Bakery on 100 Feet Road, had renovated it to set up an office to meet BJP functionaries and cadres. When the office was opened on Saturday evening, he installed party flags on the road without permission, a police officer said.
Police removed 10 flags from the road. Based on a complaint from sub-inspector Velliraj, a case was registered against Muruganandam under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1959. TNN
