Bharathiar University to increase green cover on campus

Bharathiar University will sign a memorandum of understanding with a local NGO soon to increase the green cover on its 1300-acre campus, said vice-chancellor A Ganapthi on Monday.

COIMBATORE: Bharathiar University will sign a memorandum of understanding with a local NGO soon to increase the green cover on its 1300-acre campus, said vice-chancellor A Ganapthi on Monday.
Ganapthi was speaking at an enviro meet organised by non-profit organisation OSAI to mark the Global Tiger Day.
“In comparison with universities like Anna University, the acreage of land under green cover is the least in Bharathiar University.

We plan to take up many plantation drives on the university campus and will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Siruthuli, a local NGO. We have some funds that can be used for this purpose,” he said.
He asked the botany and zoological departments of the university to take up the responsibility for this.
