Popular Bharatanatyam dancer couple

Shijith Nambiar and Parvathy Menon

, will be in the city on Sunday to attend classical dance school Abhyasa’s 15th year celebrations. The couple, who are a regular in Chennai’s margazhi circuit and famous for their performance as and on Lord Krishna, will be presented the Abhyasa Nritya Vardhini award.

Carnatic vocalist and Padma Shri awardee Aruna Sairam will be the chief guest of the celebrations to be held at the Sarojini Natraj Auditorium.

The award ceremony will be followed by “Dvitva”, a dance production by city-based Bharatanatyam exponent Lavanya Sankar and a few artistes from Abhyasa dance school.

“Dvitva is a dance production on the duality of the sun and the moon and how they have impacted humankind since time immemorial,” Sankar said. Bharatanatyam exponent, Padmashri Chitra Visveswaran will also be present at the event.
