Army Day Celebrated

Udhagamandalam: Army Day was celebrated at Madras Regimental Centre (MRC) in Wellington near Coonoor in the Nilgiris, on Friday. The occasion was maked by wreath laying ceremony.
Every yearm Army Day is celebrated on January 15 in recognition of Lt Gen (later Field Marshal) KM Kariappa, who took over as the first commander-in chief of Indian Army from Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander in 1948.
Rear Admiral Sudhir Pillai NM, Officiating Commandant, Defence Service Staff College and Col RN Mutalik, Officiating Commandant, MRC took part in the function besides other senior defence officials.
