Anganwadi equipped to develop kids’ skills

Coimbatore: City mayor Kalpana Anandakumar on Wednesday opened an anganwadi centre, which was modified with more than 118 sports and skill development equipment for kids under the ‘Namakku Naame’ scheme, in ward 25 of Hudco Colony at Gandhi Ma Nagar.According to an official source, the anganwadi with a strength of 40 students was revamped with the contributions from the city corporation, Lakshmi Mills, Sakthi Sugars Limited, and NGOs upswings educare and wow educare. The anganwadi now features a kitchen garden, an interactive centre, drinking water facilities and toilets. Corporation commissioner M Prathap was present on the occasion.Later, Kalpana and corporation officials inspected damaged roads at Maniyakaranpalayam and instructed authorities concerned to repair them at the earliest.They also inspected the roads dug up for laying drinking water pipelines at Masakalipalayam and instructed officials to complete the ongoing work fast and relay the roads.
