Accused gives police the slip at CMCH

COIMBATORE: A history-sheeter gave police the slips while undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore medical college hospital in the city on Monday.
The accused, Vijayaraj, 23, was a resident of a refugee camp at Puluvampatti near Aalanthurai on the outskirts of the city.
On Sunday, Vijayaraj fought with Sivanesan, another resident of the camp and a history-sheeter as well, over the sales of illegal lottery tickets in the camp.

In the fight, both were seriously injured and Sivanesan was admitted to the CMCH.
Alerted by the public, police officials had rushed to the spot and arrested Vijayaraj. As he was also badly injured, Vijayaraj was admitted to CMCH for treatment. While taking him to his ward after taking medical tests, the accused managed to escape, a police officer said.
The district police have formed a special team to nab the accused.
