9 kickboxers win big at national tournament

Salem: Nine students from the district won gold and bronze medals at the national level junior kickboxing tournament held at Ranchi, Jharkhand from August 23 to 27. The Salem district amateur kickboxing association felicitated the medalists here on Thursday. An association office-bearer said six students, S Sri Surya, S Lakshna, Kriyothika, Hithesh, Kesav and Haraviratty, won gold medals while three others, Madhumithran, Sudhakar and Pugazh won bronze medals. “This is the first time in the history of kickboxing in Salem that our students have won gold and bronze at the national level,” they said.
