410 students admitted to Govt Polytechnic College
Coimbatore: As many as 410 students have been admitted to Government Polytechnic College here during the counselling held on June 12 and 13 for the academic year 2023-24. The college has 630 seats offered in eight full-time courses — civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering (EEE), electronics and engineering communication, computer engineering, production engineering, ECG technology, and electronics and communication engineering. Principal P Thenmozhi said mechanical engineering is the most preferred course this year, followed by EEE and computer engineering. “Around 500 students were admitted last year. Since only 410 students have been admitted so far this year, a second round of counseling would be conducted as per the directions of the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE).”On placements, the principal said all students who were willing take jobs were placed in technical and core jobs in the last academic year. “A total of 160 students will get stipend every year. Students will also get an opportunity to do internship during the second year.” The duration of the full-time courses is three years. The college also offers part-time courses for the duration of four years.
