4 detained under NSA

Coimbatore: City police commissioner Sumit Sharan on Thursday detained four accused, who are currently lodged at the Coimbatore central prison, under the National Security Act (NSA) to maintain peace and harmony in Coimbatore.

The accused were A Azharuddin, 30 of Karumbukadai, S Noor Mohammed of Kurichi, K Pandi alias Sadaiyandi, 41, of Periyasamy Layout at Rathinapuri and V Akil, 23, from Rathinapuri.

Azharuddin and Noor Mohammed were arrested for attacking Hindu Munnani functionary M Anand. Pandi and Akil were arrested for hurling a petrol bomb at a mosque at Vedambal nagar near Ganapathy on February 5.
