30-year-old man arrested for killing friend

Coimbatore: The city police arrested a 30-year-old man on Thursday for murdering a man at Pathigounder Thottam 3rd Street at Ganapathy.

The arrested person was identified as M Sivaprakash of Balaji Nagar at Nallampalayam. Police said, B Praveen, 25, of Udayampalayam near Chinnavedampatti, was found murdered at Pathigounder Thottam 3rd Street on November 5. “He was working in a welding workshop. When Praveen was riding a motorcycle, he was waylaid by two people, who stabbed him and assaulted him using an iron rod,” a police officer said.

After investigation, Saravanampatti police arrested Sivaprakash on Thursday. “Praveen and Sivaprakash had a fight while consuming liquor 10 days ago. Sivaprakash hatched a conspiracy along with an accomplice and murdered him,” the officer added.

Sivaprakash was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison. Police have formed a special team to nab his accomplice.
