2 bikers to deliver a roaring message: Stop child abuse
COIMBATORE:
G Mohan 53, from Rathinapuri in the city and PA Aneesh, 29, from Bangalore, plan to meet children at schools in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Bhutan and Nepal.
The duo had met through a mutual friend. While Mohan has been on road trips to Leh and Ladakh on his cruiser, a distance of 10,000km, he couldn’t find a proper team to travel with for the cause. Aneesh was eager to help him.
“While the Me Too movement has brought sexual harassment experienced by adults into the public discourse, there is not much awareness about child sexual abuse,” said Aneesh.
The duo plan to visit 40 districts and have acquired permission to visit some government schools in Kolkata and Nagaland, and talk to the students about child sexual abuse. They plan to address children aged from five to 10, who would not be aware of sexual abuse.
The trip, which they plan to complete in 40 days, will cost them around Rs 1.75lakh each.
They have customised certain parts of their vehicles for the long trip. M Surendran, manager of Harley Davidson Western Ghats chapter said the firm will provide service for the riders through their showrooms in the cities they visit.
