COIMBATORE: The city police arrested two motorcycle thieves and seized three two-wheelers from them after the owner of a vehicle caught one of them red-handed.
Police identified the arrested men as G Parthasarathi, 31, a dancer and R Dineshkumar, 41, a mechanic. They hailed from Anna Nagar at Sivananda Colony.
Parthasarathi, who was addicted to drugs, involved in two-wheeler thefts to fuel the habit, police sources said.
“He had stolen the motorcycle of M Manikandan of Anna Nagar at Sivananda Colony on Friday night. On Saturday, when he saw Parthasarathi riding the vehicle, Manikandan, with the help of his friend Kumar, caught him and handed him over to Rathinapuri police. Following investigation, we arrested Dineshkumar,” a police officer said.
Police also recovered the motorcycles of P Balachandran of
Krishna Colony at Singanallur and J Sarathkumar of Anna Nagar at Sivananda Colony, which were stolen on Friday night, from the duo. They were lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
