2.7 kilogram of ganja seized

COIMBATORE: R Ramesh, 45, from Palakkad in Kerala, was arrested by the Peelamedu police for possession of ganja near Jenny's club on Monday. Police seized 2.2kg of ganja from him. Peelamedu police inspector V Selvaraj and his team arrested Ramesh. He was remanded to judicial custody and was later lodged at Coimbatore central prison. In another incident, S Vignesh, 19, was arrested for possessing 520 grams of ganja at Raja Street.
Elderly man held for possessing lottery tickets: M Prabhu, 60, of Ramar Kovil Street at south Ukkadam, was arrested for possession of banned lottery tickets at TK Market auto stand on Raja Street here on Monday. Sub-inspector A Soundararajan and his team arrested him during patrol. The police seized 12 lottery tickets and 120 from him.
Tobacco products seized: The police arrested a 33-year-old man for possession of 38 packets of banned tobacco products for sales at Avarampalayam on Monday. The person was identified as R Murali, 33, from VNS Nagar at Ganapathy. He was later released on bail.
Pirated DVDs seized: R Sivakumar, 21, from Kumudam Nagar on Vilankurichi Road, was arrested by the Peelamedu police for possession of 22 pirated new Tamil film DVDs in a musical shop on Vilankurichi Road on Monday. Peelamedu police sub-inspector Kandasamy and team arrested Sivakumar. He was remanded to judicial custody.
