COIMBATORE: The Tamilnadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC), through its partnership with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), will assist micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) to get a substantial portion of defence-related works, TIIC chairman Hans Raj Verma said here on Thursday.

"TIIC has partnerships with various bodies, and is going to partner with the Smart Manufacturing and Digital Transformation Centre of IIT-Madras, to get the best-in-class industry 4.0 solutions for MSMEs at a low-cost, in order to make their operations sustainable. With partnership through reputed institutions like VIT and PSG Tech, we are aiming to introduce MSMEs to the basics of industry 4.0," Verma said addressing the gathering after inaugurating the three-day-long 'Inter-Foundry Inter-Diecast Exhibition and Allied Conference' organised by the Foundries Development Foundation (FDF) at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex.

Foundries form the backbone of the Indian economy, and for the manufacturing sector to contribute 25% to the GDP, the sector should enhance its capabilities, the official said. "Since FDF has taken an initiative to enhance Coimbatore foundries' capabilities through its upcoming centre of excellence, I will personally help to get all the clearances it needs to achieve its respective goals, and contribute to Atmanirbhar Bharat."

Chairman of Sakthi Group M Manickam, director of TIDCO R Nandini and chairman of the organising committee R Palanisamy were present.

As many as 180 exhibitors from the foundry industry are participating in the event.
