CHENNAI: The Kancheepuram police on Tuesday arrested YouTuber and motorcycle racer TTF Vasan, who was injured after his bike stunt on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway went wrong on Sunday.
Earlier on Monday the Baluchetty Chatiram police registered a case under two sections including rash and negligent driving against Vasan. On Tuesday, cases under five more sections for performing bike stunts on the highway were registered by the police.
During the early hours of Tuesday, the Baluchetty Chatiram police went to Tiruvallur and arrested TTF Vasan who was staying at his friend's house in Poonga Nagar.
Trouble began for Vasan after a video of him falling into the bushes after being thrown off his bike went viral on social media. He lost control of the two-wheeler while attempting to do a wheelie.
Vasan and his friends were on a road trip to Maharashtra on Sunday when the accident happened near Baluchetty Chatram in Kancheepuram district. Soon he was rushed to a private hospital in the locality. Vasan suffered a fracture on his left hand in the accident and a few minor injuries on his body.
Police booked him on charges of rash driving and attempt to commit culpable homicide and he has been remanded to judicial custody. Police said that they have recommended suspension of his license, as he was repeatedly found indulging in bike stunts.
Last year, he was arrested in Coimbatore for rash driving and was let off on bail.
