Youth kills sister, inflicts injuries on brother and sister-in-law for opposing his love marriage in TN

A 25-year-old youth in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, who married his girlfriend on Monday, hacked his sister to death and inflicted serious injurious on his brother and brother’s wife on Tuesday night for opposing his marriage.

VELLORE: A 25-year-old youth in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, who married his girlfriend on Monday, hacked his sister to death and inflicted serious injurious on his brother and brother’s wife on Tuesday night for opposing his marriage.
Naveen Kumar, a native of Thandamanatham village near Sholinghur, went to his house with his wife Vaidhiyasri, a native of Ammoor in Walajapet taluk, on Tuesday afternoon, a day after their marriage.

They belong to the same caste.
On learning about his marriage, Kumar’s sister Amudha, 28, mother of three children, came to the village.
Though Kumar’s mother approved the marriage, his sister Amudha, brother Settu, 30, brother’s wife Sagunthala, 26, opposed it.
Kumar took his wife to her parents’ home, left her there and came back to his home. His sister, brother and sister-in-law continued to fight with him. Infuriated, he grabbed a sickle and attacked Amutha, Settu and Sagunthala repeatedly. The incident happened around 9.30pm.
Amudha died on the spot. Settu and his wife, who sustained serious injuries, were rushed to a nearby hospital. They were later referred to Government Vellore Medical College Hospital.
The Sholinghur police registered a case and launched a search for Kumar.
