The centenary function of Sathyavani Muthu was organised by the DMK women's wing in Chennai in which Stalin asked the women functionaries of his party to emulate the characteristics of Sathyavani Muthu.
CHENNAI: Chief minister M K Stalin on Sunday said all women entering politics should learn from the life of former minister Sathyavani Muthu.
The centenary function of Sathyavani Muthu was organised by the DMK women's wing in Chennai in which Stalin asked the women functionaries of his party to emulate the characteristics of Sathyavani Muthu. "Sathyavani Muthu's chivalrous character, her sacrificial nature and her firmness towards ideology should be there among DMK women's wing members.

All women entering politics should learn from Sathyavani Muthu's life which itself is a lesson," said Stalin.
Sathyavani Muthu was the first DMK woman MLA and also the first woman Union minister representing a Dravidian party. Stalin said she held various posts and positions and made sacrifices. "Sathyavani Muthu could serve in various capacities because of her sacrifices and she is remembered even after several years because she was a fighter. I want not just one Sathyavani Muthu in our party, but thousands of Sathyavani Muthus," said Stalin.
Recalling her protests and contributions to the party, Stalin said Sathyavani Muthu went to prison nine times and of this, she went to prison twice when she was pregnant. "She was one of the very few women to join the party in its early stages and because of women like her, lakhs of women are now in DMK," said Stalin.
