Woman, son die as tanker hits two-wheeler on Chennai’s Anna Salai

CHENNAI: A water tanker fatally knocked down a woman and her son riding on a two-wheeler on the Anna Salai here on Tuesday. The accident happened when Nirmala, 52, of Chetpet and her son Mahesh, 22, were returning home after inviting their relatives to her daughter's wedding.
The tanker, driven by Balachandran, 38, trying to negotiate a curve to go to the GP Road when it hit the two-wheeler.The duo came under the rear wheels of the tanker and died on the spot.
Police said Nirmala and her husband, Dakshinamoorthy, had a daughter named Hemamalini and two sons, Nagaraj and Mahesh. Hemamalini’s wedding was be held on August 18, they said.
