Woman professor found dead at home

CHENNAI: A 59-year-old former professor of Anna University was found dead at her house in Thiruvanmiyur on Wednesday morning. Police identified her as Meera Asha Menon, 59, a native of Kerala. She was living alone and had very few visitors. The house often remained locked, neighbours told police.On Wednesday morning, some neighbours sensed a foul smell and alerted the police control room. A team from Thiruvanmiyur police station found her body on the bed, in a decomposed state. Police have registered a case of suspicious death and sent the body for autopsy. "We think she died two days ago. It could be a case of death due to natural causes," said an investigating officer.
