A police officer said Venkatesan threw acid at Selvi, a construction worker, after an argument in which he accused her of cheating on him.
The pair had been living together for a couple of years after meeting at a construction site in the city. Their neighbours in Rajiv Colony, Thoraipakkam, told police that Venkatesan frequently picked up fights with Selvi.
Doctors advised Selvi’s neighbours to move her to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for treatment of her burn injuries.
