Woman held for attacking pregnant sis-in-law in Chennai

CHENNAI: A woman living separately at her parent's house after a feud with her husband has been arrested by Tondiarpet police for attacking her estranged husband's pregnant sister-in-law.

The accused, Durga Bai, believed her sister-in-law Kausalya was responsible for her separation from her husband.

Durga and Vijay Simha were living separately for the last few years. On January 17, Durga and her relatives reached Vijay's younger brother Prabakaran's house, where she picked up a quarrel with his wife Kausalya. The group of people abused and attacked Kausalya. One of the relatives kicked Kausalya on her stomach. She was later admitted to a hospital where she delivered a stillborn baby on January 23.

Following Kausalya's complaint, Durga was arrested.
