CHENNAI: A 25-year-old

woman

was electrocuted while hanging clothes on a cable inside her house in

Choolaimedu

here on Tuesday.

Electricity

was passing through the cable due to faulty earthing, according to police.

The deceased has been identified as Revathi of Namachivayapuram.

The woman suffered an electric shock when her husband, S Sivaprakash, 35, who is a salesman, left for work. The woman was rushed to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared that she had been brought dead.

Police said Sivaprakash had been aware the faulty earthing issue and had asked his brother, who lives the next door, to check it. However, he had not informed his wife about it.

Police said they had recommended the case for an RDO inquiry since the woman died within seven years of marriage. The couple got married only three years ago.
