Woman dies after bike skids and falls in Chengalpet
Chennai: A 40-year-old woman died after suffering head injuries when the motorcycle on which she was travelling after seeking a lift from an unidentified man skidded and fell near Chengalpet on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Shakila, wife of Sampath, from Sappudiyamman Koil Street in Anjoor village near Chengalpet.
Police said Shakila was walking near her house to reach the Thiruvidanthai bus stop to travel to Tiruporur when an unidentified man passed by on a two-wheeler. She sought a lift from him, following which he allowed her to travel on the pillion seat, police said.
When they were passing through Puthiya Gramam in Anjoor, the motorcycle lost balance and skidded on the road. Shakila sustained grievous injuries to the back of her head in the accident.
Residents in the neighbourhood sent her in an ambulance to the Chengalpattu Govt Hospital. Later, she succumbed to her injuries.
Chengalpet Taluk police registered a case and are investigating.
