CHENNAI: A 21-year-old woman employee at a popular chain of textiles showroom committed
suicide
in
T Nagar
on Friday. Inquiries revealed that she took the extreme step due to family issues.
The deceased has been identified as N Parameshwari of Alangulam in
Tirunelveli
district. She had been working as a cashier at the shop on the North Usman Road for over three years, said police.
On Friday, which was her weekly off, Parameshwari consumed a hair dye at the hostel managed by the firm around 8.30pm and fell unconscious.
Her roommates informed their supervisor and they rushed her to a private hospital on the G N Chetty Road. She was given a first aid and gave preliminary treatment. However, Parameshwari died around 11.30pm.
The Pondy Bazaar police registered a case.
Preliminary investigations revealed that there were some issues between Parameshwari and her father Navaneetha Krishnan, who is a farmer. Parameshwari's friend told police the former had stayed aloof for the last couple of days.
