CHENNAI: The cybercrime police arrested two people, including a woman, for cheating a Chennai man of Rs 56 lakh by promising him a catering contract with a software company.
In his complaint, Santosh Kumar said he had acquainted with a woman on the chatting app Chatkaro. The woman swindled money from him by promising a catering contract.
The cybercrime police pursued the call details and traced the suspect to Porvorim in Goa.
A team went to Goa and arrested M Sakthivel, 41, and K Priya, 37.
Police investigations revealed that the two had swindled money from at least ten people.
They were produced before a magistrate in Chennai and remanded in judicial custody.
