Woman, 43, loses gold to snatcher in Thiruvanmiyur

CHENNAI: A 43-year-old woman on Monday was robbed of her gold chain by a snatcher in Thiruvanmiyur.
Police said the victim, Priyadarshini, is part of the administration staff at T T V Dhinakaran's office in Thiruvanmiyur.
Priyadarshini had gone to dinner with her husband when the snatching occurred. When questioned, she told police that the man was waiting for someone just outside the hotel to strike.
The woman said the man quickly snatched her chain weighing five sovereigns and ran away. Priyadarshini tried to resist the attack but was left with minor bruises on the neck and hands in the process.
Priyadarshini's husband and some passersby tired to nab the suspect but the man had his accomplice waiting on a motorbike at the end of the street and the two men escaped.
After receiving treatment at a private hospital, she lodged a formal complaint with the Thiruvanmiyur police. Police have registered a case and have acquired CCTV camera footage to help narrow down on the suspects. Officers also visited the hotel to question people there.
