CHENNAI: Deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that though he claims to love Tamil, Hindi was being imposed on TN.At book release event in Chennai on Thursday, Udhayanidhi said, "Modi is staging a drama by showing that on one hand he has concerns about Tamil language, but at the same time he is preventing Tamil students from learning Tamil by trying to impose Hindi and Sanskrit. If he is so concerned about Tamil, why is he making the three language policy mandatory to release pending funds for the education department to the tune of 2,500 crore? Modi, who is projecting himself as a Tamil enthusiast, allocated a mere 150 crore for development of Tamil language in 10 years, but allocated 2400 crore for Sanskrit."Criticizing Modi's visit to Coimbatore, Udhayanidhi added, "Modi visited Tamil Nadu before the 2024 Lok Sabha election about eight times for campaigning but people gave them a big zero in return. From now, he will frequently visit Tamil Nadu since the state is facing election in 2026."Meanwhile, TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai said INDIA bloc was intact and would continue for the upcoming assembly election in 2026. tnn
