A video of Congress functionaries abusing each other surfaced on social media. In the short clip, AICC Secretary Mayura S Jayakumar is seen yelling at another functionary, Kovai Selvan, who is not visible in the frame. Fellow Congress workers try to pacify Jayakumar and escort him to the car, while airport security personnel stand guard to prevent the escalation of the confrontation. Jayakumar is seen wriggling out and charging forward, only to be held back and pacified by his party colleagues. The drama unfolded outside the airport lounge after Venugopal left.

On Monday, Kovai Selvan, a former Pradesh Congress Committee member, submitted a complaint to the deputy commissioner of police seeking action against Jayakumar. Jayakumar also lodged a counter-complaint against Selvan. Police are yet to register the complaint. They have also complained to their party high command.

A month ago, a group of Congress functionaries from Coimbatore held a meeting and passed a resolution urging the party high command to remove Jayakumar from his post.
