'Valvil Ori' festival begins in Kolli Hills

NAMAKKAL: The Namakkal district administration on Saturday kicked off the two-day 'Valvil Ori' festival in the Kolli Hills on Saturday. Flower shows and cultural programmes were being held as part of the festival, said district collector Durgamoorthi. The festival is held as part of Aadi 18 celebrations every year.The horticulture department is holding flower medical benefits exhibitions in the botanical garden. Around 50,000 flowers, including roses, gerbera, carnations, jasmine are on display. The flower show features floral structures and rangoli designs.There are floral figures of rabbits, unicorns, horses, mushrooms, deer, monkeys and others. Inside the greenhouse, an array of stunning flowers was meticulously arranged. Dog shows, cookery competitions and cultural programmes like dance are also being held as part of the festival.
