Union govt has started exerting pressure on TVK after Vijay ruled out alliance, says Arun Raj

Chennai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Friday said the Union govt has started `exerting pressure' on the party after its president Vijay ruled out any alliance with ‘communal forces.'Speaking to reporters in Madurai on Friday, TVK general secretary (propaganda) K G Arun Raj said Vijay made the party's stand explicit at a January event in Mamallapuram. "Pressure was not exerted on us before that. But it has began now,'' he said.
``You are aware of the CBI enquiry and the issues surrounding films,'' he said referring to Vijay being summoned to New Delhi for a probe into the Karur stampede and the denial of clearance by Central Board of Film Certification for his movie Jananayagan. Nevertheless, Arun Raj said that TVK's position against the BJP remained unchanged. ``Despite this, our leader clearly stated that there will be no alliance with communal forces. What more clarity is needed?" he said ruling out any furture tie up with the BJP.Arun Raj rejected criticisms that TVK was not critcising BJP. He said TVK has declared that the ruling parties in TN as well as in the Centre were its political adversaries.He also alleged that the DMK-led state govt created hurdles for TVK's public meetings by delaying or denying permissions. "While the ruling party was able to secure clearances within one or two days, TVK faced multiple conditions," he said. Party events in Salem and Vellore were planned weeks in advance, yet approvals were not granted in time, reflecting a pattern of administrative obstruction, he added.He said TVK's election manifesto was under preparation and it would focus on governance responsibilities and addressing public needs, rather than unrealistic promises.
