Two women killed in separate road accidents in Kanchee

Chennai: Two women, were killed in separate road accidents reported in Kancheepuram district on Sunday.

In the first incident, Akhila , 68, of Salabogam area in Kancheepuram taluk died after falling from a moving tourist van near Kundukulam village. Police said she was travelling from Salabogam to Kundukulam and was seated near the vehicle’s steps. When the van took a turn near the Kundukulam bus stop, she lost balance and fell onto the road, sustaining severe head injuries.

She was initially admitted to the Kancheepuram Govt Hospital and later referred to the Chengalpet Govt Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Baluchetti Chatram police registered a case and are investigating.

In another incident, P Kanmani , 30, of Orikkai Military Road was killed after a private factory bus rammed the scooter on which she was travelling with her husband on the Kancheepuram-Walajabad highway.

Police said the couple was returning home from a family function when the accident occurred near Venkudi village. Kanmani died on the spot, while Premkumar sustained injuries. Walajabad police registered a case and are investigating.
