Two Tiruvannamalai boys electrocuted while erecting birthday banner for their friend
TIRUVANNAMALAI: Two teenage boys were electrocuted in Tiruvannamalai town on Monday night when they climbed on a transformer to erect a banner extending birthday greetings to their friend.
Police said R Lokesh, 16, and R Danush Kumar, 18, decided to erect a banner to convey birthday greetings to their friend K Kannan, 18. They erected the banner on the Manalurpet Road in the town around 11.30pm on Monday. They decided to tie the top portion of the banner to a nearby transformer to give it an extra support.
They climbed on the transformer, accidently touched a live wire and were electrocuted.
A team from the Tiruvannamalai town police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem.
