Two teens die in road accident near Tirukoilur

KALLAKURICHI: Two teenage boys died after falling off a two-wheeler near Tirukoilur in Kallakurichi district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday night.

The deceased have been identified as M Mohan Raj, 17, a Class X dropout, and S Harish, 18, a Class XII student.

Six teenage boys, including pillion riders, were riding on three motorcycles near Tirukoilur. They were reportedly speeding and overtaking one another. They were heading towards Aavioor village.

Mohan Raj lost control of his motorcycle after he hit a tractor near a brick kiln. He and Harish, who was riding pillion, fell on the road. The two sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

Their friends, who were following them, alerted the Tirukoilur police. A police team reached the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem examinations.

The police registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving or driving in a public way) and 106 (I) (causing death by negligence) of BNS and began investigations.
